Something Big Is Happening

Dr. Ralph Winter, founder and president of the US Center for World Missions, has noticed a trend in world history. Approximately every 400 years God takes dramatic action to bring humanity back on course. This has happened in both Old Testament times and New Testament times.

For example, approximately 400 years after the resurrection of Christ, Christianity been the official religion of the Roman Empire for nearly 100 years. Most Christians were staying at home in security and safety. The message of the Gospel was no longer being spread, as Jesus has commanded us to do.

So what happened?

The barbarians invaded the Roman Empire causing many Christians to flee the empire, spreading Christianity as they went.

Another example are the Vikings. By the time of the Vikings Christians had again grown complacent. The Gospel message was no longer being spread. The Vikings roared dwn out ofthe north, killing, pillaging and burning as they went. But in many cases they did not kill the Christian women. They took them back home to care for and serve as teachers for their children. The result was that the captured women taught Christianity to the Viking children, and Christianity spread further.

We are almost at another 400 year point in history. Are we serving God as we should be? Or will God need to take action again?

Look at what is happening in America. The Christian church is being strengthened. This is something God typically does prior to a period of difficult times and persecution of Christians. Christians are turning back to the Bible. On the other hand non-Christians* are also gaining strength. It appears God is slowly withdrawing His blessing from America, with the result that non-Christians gain in strength.

America is spliting into two groups--Christians and non-Christians. Is something big about to happen? I can't say for sure, I'm not a prophet. But it's interesting to contemplate what might be happening.

* Although many people call themselves "Christian" in America, that does not mean they are placing their trust in Christ alone for their salvation.

I do not understand how people can believe any of this. I do not understand how you can be so ignorant of your souls that you think the universe, this incredibly complex and beautiful creation of God's, is some simplistic ignorant game. You believe whatever you want to support this fantasy, and reject anything that disagrees. You turn away from reality and ignore the Truth, and you think this makes you closer to God. Thinking the way you do will get us all killed, because evil men will recognize that you will do anything they say as long as they tell you Jesus wants you to do it. You will read the Bible and decide that you are going to do God's work, and start a holy Crusade against all Muslim nations. And when the beautiful green earth is a charred and black ball of ash with no life anywhere, you will finally be finished killing. God says THOU SHALT NOT KILL. God says VENGEANCE IS MINE. Not yours. God's. If a hurricane hits a non-Christian area, you believe it is because God hates them and is punishing them. If it hits a Christian area, it is because God loves you, and is testing you. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. And because you can believe whatever you want, without ever having to make sense at all, just by ignoring things that disagree with you, you are supremely dangerous to all of us.

THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

It's not VAGUE. It isn't unclear. DO NOT KILL. WAKE UP. You are being manipulated by evil men who twist your beliefs and use them against you.

Thanks for your comment, but you really need to read the Bible before you try to quote from it. You say that Christians twist the Scriptures to their own desires, and then you do that very thing yourself. I'd call you hypocritical, but my guess is that you are just uninformed and are basing your statement on hearsay, not on actually reading a current translation of the Bible.

You say the Bible says, "You shall not kill." I assume you are referring to the sixth commandment in Exodus 20:13. The word you are translating as "kill" is the Hebrew word "ratsach". This word means "murder" and the correct way to translate Exodus 20:13 into English, as you'll see in current translations, is "You shall not murder."

Look at current translations (that are accepted by both Christian and secular scholars as good translations) such as the NIV, NASB or NLT and you'll see Exodus 20:13 is translated as "You shall not murder."

You are right, the Bible is not vague, it just doesn't say what you claim it says.
